Display : Workbench& Commodore in their wisdom decided&to change the workbench colours when&they released Workbench 2. Fair&enough you may say - blue and orange&is not the first colours you think of&when looking for something easy on the&eyes. But they also swapped the&black and white colours used so all&icons created for Workbench 1.3 now&appear back to front on Workbench 2
screens.& Leaping to the rescue is Nico&Francois, author of PowerPacker and&numerous other Amiga programs, with&this nifty little utility, RemapInfo.&Under wb.2 it couldn't be easier to&use. Double clicking on it's icon'creates another icon on the workbench. &To remap an icon all you have to do is&drag it onto this new RemapInfo icon,&release the mouse button and the job's&done. The remapped icon is then&placed back from whence it came.&Perfect. Ditto for multi-selected
icons.& On wb.1.3 it's almost as simple.&Click once on RemapInfo and, while&holding down the shift key, click on&each icon you want changed with a&double click on the last one. The&icons are then remapped. It does need&the Arp library though on 1.3&machines. This means you can also&select icons to be changed through the&Arp requester. I would have happily&gone without this feature so disk&drive only users don't have the hassle&of copying Arp into there Libs
directory.& What use is it to 1.3 users though?&Well they are now getting icons&designed for wb.2 so these all look&skew-whiff too. As RemapInfo just&swaps the black and white colours it
is just as useful under wb.1.3.
To remap an icon, drag it! onto the new RemapInfo icon,
release the mouse button
and the job's done.
[23m& The only problem I had was when&trying to change the icon of Snap, the&text and graphics cutting utility.&This caused the black/white part of&the icon to become speckled. Whether&this was RemapInfo's fault or a&corrupt icon's fault I don't know.%Doing it twice returned it to normal.& A neat little utility. If some of&your icons are looking a bit bizarre&then this may be the thing to fix them
